Located
by the Bund, in the high-end Bund 18 complex,
Sens & Bund was opened by the Pourcel twins from
Montpelier, in the south of France. The brothers have a restaurant there that
was rated 3-Stars by the Michelin Guide to Restaurants,
probably the most prestigious acknowledgement
of gastronomie world-wide. One
cannot help
but expect the world from this place. Sens & Bund
is indeed a high-quality restaurant, one of the best
in Shanghai, but it would be even better if the Pourcel
brothers didn't just
come
to Shanghai for the opening, but were instead actually
based here in Shanghai, overseeing
the operations of the
restaurant.
But still,
the cuisine at Sens & Bund is very good. The
decor is
attractive,
featuring rows
of string
suspended
from
the ceiling and red chandeliers in the entrance area.
With the chef-brothers' important reputation, this
restaurant is a place for people who want to impress and
to see-and-be-seen.
FYI, the deserts
are
absolutely
mouth-watering, although we
miss the
chocolate
fondant.
After
a delicious meal at Sens & Bund, you can also pop upstairs
to the venerable Bar Rouge, currently Shanghai's most
celebrated high-end bar, with a fantastic view. |
